There's a growing trend amongst pregnant women in Ghana. Lots of expectant mothers in the country are now taking pills to lighten the skin of their unborn babies while they are still in the womb. Medical experts have warned pregnant women to stop taking the illegal drugs. They say these illegal drugs can cause birth defects, including damage to limbs and internal organs. The practice is growing in Ghana, according to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), with pills often smuggled into the country inside luggage at airports in large quantities. Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says using Glutathione pills for the purpose of lightening babies' skin is dangerous, adding it wants "the general public to know that no product has been approved by the FDA in the form of a tablet to lighten the skin of the unborn child”. Security agencies and police are working together to arrest and prosecute companies and individuals in possession of the illegal tablets.

The Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris, on Wednesday, advised state governors to establish cattle ranches before enacting anti-grazing laws, to avert conflict between farmers and herdsmen. The IGP gave the advice at the Northern States Stakeholders’ Security Summit, with the theme, `National Building: Security Challenges and the Need for Inclusive Approach’, held in Kaduna. A suspected internet fraudster has been arrested after he was caught using his young nephew for rituals in Lagos. According to online reports, the alleged Yahoo boy named Tunde Owolabi popularly known as ‘Money Talks’ was caught using his elder sister’s 7-year-old son for money rituals in Ikoyi, Lagos State. The suspect who took security operatives to where he dumped the boy’s corpse – is currently in custody and helping with investigation. His arrest has sparked outrage on social media.

The local residents of Amukpe, old Eku road in Sapele, Delta state, were left in total shock after nabbing a woman who reportedly poisoned her own child. A Facebook user identified as Temi Meg, has taken to the social networking platform and posted some photos, a video, as she narrates how a lady was apprehended after allegedly poisoning her child in Delta State. She posted the photos and wrote: "Hmm what a wicked world, some humans are wicked, how can a mother carry a child for nine month, go through pain to deliver the child and still have d heart to poison that child after doing DAT she ran away but God punish her, this happen last night at Amukpe old Eku road sapele. hmm na wa oh Wonder shall never seize."

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has asked security agencies to take responsibility for failing to stop the abduction of 110 schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe State, adding that the blame passing between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force is unacceptable. In a press statement, Dogara said rather than trading blames, the various security agencies should strengthen inter-agency collaboration and intensify efforts towards rescuing the girls. The statements credited to the Army and the Police in which they tried to exonerate themselves from any culpability in the unfortunate and embarrassing abduction of innocent girls from their school in Dapchi , Yobe State, is highly condemnable. The Lagos State police command has arrested a medical practitioner for the death of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the state. According to reports, the deceased, a former DPO in Igando area of the state, was redeployed to Amuwo Odofin police post. Late last year, the DPO was injured in his arm during a faceoff with some hoodlums. He was said to be treating the dislocation in a traditional clinic, but the wound did not heal. Following the severe pains he was having, some of his friends advised him to try orthodox treatment and he was said to have taken the complaint to his medical doctor friend at Igando. The doctor was reported to have given him injection, following which, the DPO collapsed and all efforts to revive him proved abortive as he gave up the ghost. Pastor Chidebere was arraigned before a Chief magistrate court in Port Harcourt yesterday where he confessed to killing his pregnant girlfriend, Uloma Onwuagba, by strangling her. He also told the court that his second victim, a married woman by the name Comcillia Ezewa who is a friend of his pregnant mistress, died when he hit her on the chest and she fell on the ground. He also admitted that the third victim, a nine month old baby, Christabel Joseph, died because he was left alone in the bush after his mother died. A student of Abia State University, Uturu, identified as Willson Chukwudi has reportedly committed suicide, as he took his own life due to his inability to graduate from the school for over two years. It was gathered online that the young man’s hope of graduation this session was dashed after the Abia State Government ordered the university authorities to bar students who could not pay their school fees from writing exams. A former governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke, on Tuesday said he has not backed down on his presidential ambition. Duke said the speculations that he had dumped the aspiration were untrue. Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi, yesterday banned Fulani herdsmen and their cattle from entering the state from other states as well as night grazing. The ban followed a clash between suspected herders and a farmer in Akaeze community. Governor Umahi said unless such a herdsman secures the permission of the Ardos of the two points of expected movement areas, as well as the village head of the receiving community, such movement is outlawed. Umahi made the pronouncement during an emergency security meeting involving the state government and Fulani herdsmen at the Exco Chambers, Government House, Abakaliki, which was attended by heads of various security commands in the state. At least 20 people were feared dead and 23 others injured following an attack yesterday by suspected herdsmen on some villages in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The assailants were reported to have stormed the communities on four Hilux vans and scores of motorcycles. Local sources said no fewere than seven villages have been razed and 3,000 residents of the communities displaced as the violent attacks continued. Daily Sun gathered that houses and properties worth millions of naira were set ablaze by the assailants. The cause of the attack has remained unclear even as community members decried the failure of government and security operatives to forestall the attacks. Attempts to get the state police public relations officer, CP Othman Abubakar, to comment on the incident proved abortive. However, Hon.
